It is common as they use steel lines. Just take it to a garage and have it replaced.

SOURCE: 2000 gmc sonoma starting problems

basic trouble shooting time... check that there is spark and move on to the fuel system if there is... possibly poured to much gas down and it's flooded.

P.S. if that is an old engine with lots of miles on it and you poured too much gas down the carb you may want to check your oil... raw gas may have leaked down into the oil pan as well

SOURCE: Replacing heater core in 2000 GMC sonoma. Dash is

If the dash is removed you've saved about 9 10ths of the job endurance. Look around, what you believe to be, the perimeter of the heater box. I cannot, and no one else can, tell you exactly where the bolts and nuts that mount the heater box are. Therefore you must viually sixe the box and check outide in the engine compartment and inside under the dash for the mounting bolts. You'll want to start by removing the heater hoses. Then starting at the passenger side engine compartment look for a group of 10mm or 7/16ths nuts retaining the housing and remove them. Do the same inside. The housing is usually held together with screws or clips, it changes year to year. Keep a log or pix of the wires and cables and hoses(vacuum) that are connected to the housing for reassembly. You'll need to "roll" the box out from under the dash depending on how much of the dash has been removed. The core is easy to spot for is has two hoses sticking out, and, is encircled with clips or screws . Also make sure you remove the bracket around the two entry hoses if it has one. Thank you, Dana

Smelling fuel fumes inside cab

Possible fuel line leaking or check around the area of the carb for leaks. Check all line connections Check gas tank all over. I doesn't need much of a leak to smell. Some times leaks develope at the tank top where the fuel pump is located as well. Please don't use a match for light to check this out

Transmission leak 2000 gmc sonoma, was driving when smoke started coming from underneath truck, pulled over, all fluid ran out in a matter of seconds.hope it is only a hose, or mabe the cooling line to...

Common for the transmission line to the radiator has failed due to corrosion. You can replace the line or section it off bad part with a new line, just make sure you use compression clamps. I had the same problem and i ended up running a new line with a inline remote transmission oil filter. B&M makes a universal remote transmission oil filter and runs around $45.00. Good luck and hope it's just the line that went bad, keep me posted.

I need to know how to change the fuel filter in a 98 gmc sonoma v6.

It is located under the truck on the driver side inside the frame rail remove the 12 M bolt to get the holding clamp off next get two plastic baggies and two rubber bands and a catch pan. Do this where there is no items that could cause a spark or a gas water heater is at that could ignite the gas. Now pull the U clamps out of each end of the filter, if you brake them it is ok the new filter will come with new clips there are two type of fuel filters some may have 2 lines others have only one but you can't get them wrong. Pull out the plastic pieces and put baggie on the fuel line and put rubber band on to keep it from leaking gas do this to all lines. next install the lines one at a time and reinstall the clips. Be sure to slide out the old filter from the housing then reinstall back on the frame and tighten the bolt down. Next Get in truck and turn the key to the Run position (Not start) then off do this 10 times this will prime the pump and fuel lines then try starting it, once it fires up it may run rough for a minute but should smooth right out. hope this helps.
